Horticultural Training at the Heart of Learning
Horticulture is central to our work. It provides an excellent, hands-on learning experience that supports:
- Everyday skills, including literacy and numeracy
- Life skills and independence
- Emotional wellbeing and mental health
- Confidence, purpose, and personal achievement
Working with nature offers calming, therapeutic benefits, helping students manage anxiety and develop positive routines.

Promoting Sensory Integration and Social Development
Our stable, nurturing environment enables students to feel successful and valued. Through our “learning by doing” approach, students learn to:
- Problem-solve
- Plan ahead
- Express themselves with confidence
- Develop social skills
- Build on personal interests and natural talents
We focus on the learning process—not just the outcome—to support growth in self-esteem and resilience.
Real Work Experience and Lifelong Skills
Jubilee Gardens offers a true working environment through our plant nursery and vegetable garden, giving students a genuine sense of responsibility and achievement. These experiences often support progress into work, independent living, and improved social confidence.
Students benefit from:
- Outdoor activity with therapeutic benefits
- Space to move, explore, and learn at their own pace
- A calm, natural environment that reduces sensory overwhelm
Our Garden Kitchen is another much-loved feature. Meals are prepared using home-grown produce—allowing students to experience the full cycle “from plot to plate” and enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
Growing Confidence, Healthy Habits, and a Sense of Achievement
Gardening nurtures self-confidence, builds healthy habits, and promotes wellbeing. By creating a safe, encouraging space, Jubilee Gardens helps each student move toward greater independence, happiness, and personal fulfilment.
